You will be directed and refueled along the route by volunteers from Horizons4Girls. Proceeds from your entry help them in their mission to inspire young women to fulfill their academic and personal goals.
Dreams of their "rescue" as castaways may have been on the minds of the UW-Sheboygan team as they decorated their table for the Early Bird Rotary Lobster Boil Table Decorating Contest. When they designated us — Horizons4Girls — as the charity to receive the $500 grant from Rotary Foundation, they made dreams come true for a couple dozen Sheboygan County teen girls. The funding helps with expenses for the programming offered at Horizons4Girls.
Horizons4Girls mentors, lighting a spark that ignites the internal promise of each student as they fulfill their academic and personal goals. Horizons4Girls thanks UW-Sheboygan and Early Bird Rotary Foundation for this financial support for their programming.
Sheboygan's Early Bird Rotary Club served up lobster dinners, along with brats and burgers, to over 600 guests recently at their Annual Lobster Boil in Fountain Park. The club raises money for local service projects, including providing three non-traditional student scholarships each year for area technical college enrollment; and to support international service with a focus on ending polio, providing clean water and "Shelter Boxes" for disaster relief.
Jon Doll & Friends provided terrific music as our patrons graciously waited out some equipment problems causing delays in serving what some proclaimed as "the best lobsters yet." Working together to advance the lives of those in our community and around the globe – a great cause!
Many thanks to our event sponsors.
Seven groups also decorated tables with a theme. The Table Decorating Contest winner was UW-Sheboygan with a Crew of Castaways including song and costumes. The shipwreck crew chose Horizons 4 Girls as the non-profit organization to receive a $500 award.
